The Whitaker is a beautiful old building, containing a museum, where they sometimes hold art exhibitions, and film shows, plus restaurant and bar.The building is set in the middle of Whitaker park, and looks out onto lovely flower beds and lawns, there are benches outside to enjoy on a fine day.Good food is served by helpful staff, or you can just enjoy a coffee or glass of wine whilst enjoying the view. This place is absolutely stunning, this beautiful mini museum serves delicious food and not to mention the decor of the whole place is a tasteful mix of modern and vintage. One complaint however is the room that displays the taxidermy work is very crowded and can be overwhelming to some. Other than that a great day out!
Quite amazing but very small taxidermy exhibition in a small museum, very usual Victorian displays. Interesting art and other Victorian artefacts from the local area. Worth a look if you're in the area.
Excellent food and such a lovely place to come for a quick bite/ drink that's local!!! Great you can bring your dog too. It's my new fave Sunday walk xx
Menu changes here more frequently than anywhere else I know. A pleasantly arty experience. Good food, good ale. Go to the bar for coffee and cake. Claims to have the best coffee in the valley. I wouldn't know as I've never been anywhere else, just in case it's not as good.
